What are analog and digital computers

Digital Computer:
A digital computer operates directly on decimal digits that represent either discrete data or symbols.
These computers take input and give output in the form of numbers and characters. The digital computers have high storage capacity. They are capable of achieving varying degrees of accuracy in both immediate and final results.
Digital computers are the most widely used type of computers in business.

Analog Computer:
An analog computer measures continuous electrical or physical magnitudes like voltage, pressures, shaft rotations, water flow etc. and react in a predefined way to changes in the specifies quantities.
They are process control devices. An analog computer accepts inputs, which vary with time and intensity and directly apply them to various devices within the computer which perform the computing operations. The output can be in the form of a graph produced by a plotting pen or a trace on a Cathode Ray Tube.
Its output signals can be used directly to control the operation of some other machine or process.
Analog computers are able to respond immediately to changes which they detect in the input variables. They have high computation power and are generally used in scientific and industrial fields in stimulating various physical systems or automatically controlling industrial processes.
